Slumdog Millionaire gets a trailer and a bunch of free screenings

Just the other day I was wondering why hasn’t there been a trailer for Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire.  The reason is because there is one now, but also because Fox Searchlight is using their highly mastered rolling platform release for this movie.

It’s a strategy that has worked in the past for films like Juno and Little Miss Sunshine.

Information on free screenings and rollout release dates ahead.

It won’t be released here in Portland until Dec. 19, which means I’ll be home in Boston for Christmas break. But the movie comes out in Boston on Nov. 21 and there is no guarantee that the movie will even still be in the theaters at that point. Hopefully, it’ll be around for a few weeks in Portland and I can catch it when I come back from break.

As for those free screenings. Fox Searchlight is hosting about 40 promotional screenings. It’s mostly major market cities like New York, Boston, LA, Chicago, etc. Portland, unfortunately, isn’t one of them. You have to RSVP for your specific screening and even then seating is on a first come first serve basis. So RSVP and then show up an hour or so early to wait in line. And if you’re a reader and go to one of these screenings drop me a line and let us know how the flick is.
