Teaser for Next Restaurant’s Childhood Menu

Grant Achatz’s infamously quirky Chicago-based eatery Next does multi-course tasting menus based around a theme. They last for about three months and reservations are incredibly difficult to score because you have to buy tickets, like you would to a sporting event or concert. One menu wwas based upon Paris in the 1920s, for example.

Their upcoming menu is based around the theme of childhood and features high concept takes on classic childhood food items like PB&J and Mac n’ Cheese. One of the desserts is even served on a handheld-mixer beater so you can lick it off. Just like you did when mom was baking a cake or brownies.

“Childhood” will run for the next three months, at which point it will be replaced with an elBulli tribute. Grant Achatz was interviewed about the concept and creative menu over at Chicago Eater.

Damn, what a great idea though. [via waxy]
