Vermont Gold: Maple Sap Vodka

The appeal of vodka for many people is not that it’s something to pour over ice and roll around the tongue to savor, but that it has no flavor and is therefore the perfect chaser.

Vermont Gold vodka changes that scenario by distilling the spirit from maple sap instead of potatoes and other root vegetables or even wheat grain. Having never had this concoction, I can’t vouch that its aroma “hints of tartness and butterscotch” or that its flavor profile is “a subtle maple taste”, or that it is both clean and complex.

But I sure as shit can attest to my overwhelming desire to drink this ice cold and over rocks.

Bottles from the St. Johnsbury, VT distillery sell online and in stores through the U.S., with prices beginning at $43 each.
