I’ve been ruminating on making ice cream with bacon in it. In my mind, I want to make a breakfast flavor – maple ice cream, bacon, and pieces of apple-cinnemon pancake mixed in.
This is very doable, though I have no idea how it would turn out or how I would do it. Thankfully, Heidi over at Savory TV dug up a recipe for bacon and egg ice cream. I’m thinking this would make a decent starting point for my breakfast ice cream flavor. The trick, obviously, if figuring out a method of candying the bacon to make it sugary and crunchy.
Heidi remains fairly skeptical about this, but I’m remaining optimistic. At some point, however, I’m going to have to update my ice cream maker to something a little more prosumer. Still rocking the rock salt and ice varietal.
