Video Games Reach the Uncanny Valley with L.A. Noire

Rockstar’s L.A. Noir, a 1940s Los Angeles set detective game, uses new facial recognition software to push the boundaries of character realism.  What’s impressive here are all the subtleties — the way a tongue moves in the mouth, a slight eyebrow raise, all of the facial ticks that indicate human emotion seem to be present.  Absolutely amazing.  [via gametrailers]
