Tigers Pitcher Armando Galarraga almost became the third MLB pitcher this month to throw a perfect game (joining Dallas Braden and Roy Halladay). Considering there have never been two in the same season, well, three in one month would have been something to remember.
Of course, he was robbed of the achievement with two outs in the ninth from a boneheaded call by the first base umpire.
Un-fucking-believable. Especially once you see the call.
Also: Ken Griffey Jr. retired, and he may be the only surefire first ballot hall of famer from the steroid era. Perhaps the greatest achievement one could be rewarded.
