Astronaut throws out first pitch for Yankees from outerspace
Dr. Garrett Reisman, a NASA astronaut, threw out the first pitch at last nights Yankees-Red Sox game from the International Space Station. Reisman is a lifelong Yankees fan.
“Flying in space is really great, but throwing out the first pitch for the Yankees/Red Sox game – I was very excited about it,” Reisman said. He brought a few keepsakes with him to the space station in honor of the Yankees. “I brought a banner that flew over Yankee Stadium, and I have some dirt from the infield at the pitcher’s mound of Yankee Stadium,” he said.
The pitch was shown on the JumboTron. Here’s an interview with the good doctor a few days prior to throwing out the first pitch.
