A rare first edition of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species was found in a London bathroom.  It’s not exactly the most thrilling bathroom reading books, but you’ve got to wonder how many people flipped through the thing without realizing what exactly they were flipping through.  “Christie’s auction house said the book, estimated to reach £60,000 [$90,000], was bought by a family for just a few shillings in a shop in the West Country about 40 years ago. It has since been kept on a bookcase in the guest lavatory at their home in the Oxford area.”  Only about 12,000 editions were printed in the first run of Darwin’s book.
